Opportunity:
- Partnership- UMADAOP and the Chosen Teens of Refreshing Springs Church have partnered together for UMADAOP’s Alcohol and Drug Substance Abuse Prevention Program to build a prevention network of young people who are versed in prevention strategies. The Chosen Teens will have the opportunity to be a Prevention Leader and will work closely with Adult Allies to be equipped with tools that will enable them to be prepared leaders in our local community and across the state.
- Action- The Chosen Teens Prevention Leaders will develop a survey about teen substance abuse awareness. The survey will aim to identify the situations, individual and family characteristics, and social factors that are associated with teen drug abuse and addiction. Its primary purpose will be to track attitudes of teens and those, like parents, who have the greatest influence on whether teens will smoke, drink, get drunk, use illegal drugs or abuse prescription drugs.
- Training- Selected Chosen Teens Prevention Leaders will be invited to attend the 28th National Leadership Forum & SAMHSA’s 14th Prevention Day—CADCA Conference (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America Conference) February 5th-February 8th, 2018. (Travel dates are February 4th, 2018 departing Ohio and returning February 9th, 2018.)
