What Do We Believe
Refreshing Springs is a church where all people are invited and welcome to praise and worship the Lord.
The Church strives to meet the spiritual needs of all persons regardless of ethnic or socioeconomic background. The book of Proverbs clearly tells us that all people are alike—“our body will return to the dust and our spirit will return to the God that gave it”. Everyone that loves the Lord will reign with Him.
Jesus said, “if we love Him, keep his commandments”. Further, Jesus adds that his children will not respond to a stranger’s voice. In order to truly love the Lord you must be born of his Spirit. Therefore, “Fall In Love With Jesus” is our consistent call and commitment.
We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible word of God and is our guide unto new birth, guides our everyday life and is our pathway to eternal life. While we appreciate some summarized statements, we make no attempt to abbreviate the Bible and its teachings or to expand it into a huge volume index of faith.
We strongly encourage everyone to read and to be open to the life revealed by the Bible—Just Read It! We honor the Bible by accepting the fact that Christ is Savior and by worshipping him as Lord of Life. He is the Living Word to whom the Bible, the written word, witnesses.

The following statements guide our faith, but as noted, not limited to:
- The Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God and is our source reference for all things. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction in righteousness.
- Our God is one, but manifested in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead. That he ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as our Intercessor.
- All have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins and a new birth.
- That after a person repents and converts from their olds ways, they are justified (made righteous), regenerated and have new birth wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
- In baptism by water immersion and is a direct commandment of our Lord and is for all who repent. The ordinance is identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial and resurrection
- That a person is consecrated and sanctified unto God subsequent to new birth, through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ, through the Word and by the Holy Ghost. The doctrine of sanctification is a definite, yet progressive work of grace where we mature in Christ. Holiness is God’s standard of living for His people.
- In the baptism of the Holy Spirit subsequent to a clean heart. We believe the Holy Spirit is manifested by the fruit and gifts of the Spirit. Our salvation is not time bound but is by God’s grace through the blood of Jesus Christ when we believe and obey His word.
- All believers are encouraged to participate in communion and washing of the saints’ feet. We partake of the Lord’s Supper to show the Lord’s death till He comes. The bread represents the Lord’s body, the wine represents the Lord’s blood, and feet washing represent our love for the Lord and one another in humility.
- We believe in the ministry of the Holy Ghost to meet the Church body needs. We believe forgiveness, healings, blessings, joy and direction are part of our salvation and the promises of God. Healing is for the physical illness of the human body and the human spirit and is wrought by the power of God through prayer and faith and the laying on of hands. Healing and the meeting of our needs is the privilege of every member of the church today.
- God inhabits the praises of his children. Therefore, we glorify God in prayer, praises and worship and through testimony. We believe in singing, clapping and lifting our hands, dancing for joy and the playing of instruments. True worship is done in spirit and truth.
- That every man is the steward of his life, services and resources, which ultimately belong to God. We believe that giving tithe and offerings as God has prospered is a measure of obedience to the scriptural principles of stewardship, commitment and sincerity of love.
- We believe that every believer has a unique relationship to the Lord. As His children, every Christian has immediate access to the throne of grace and the ability to manifest the power of the Lord Jesus Christ yet there is a call to spiritual authority that God holds the pastor accountable for and therefore he or she is the leader of our local congregation.
- In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus Christ. First, to resurrect those that have died in Christ and then the saints that remain. Second, to reign on the earth for a thousand years.
- We will be judged for our lives, eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked.
- Evangelism is the obligation of every follower of Jesus Christ. The Lord commands us to go out and make disciples in all the earth. We believe that each person is first responsible to evangelism in their own family as the Holy Spirit leads them and gives ability.
- The Church is the eternal and universal Body of Christ with Jesus Christ as the head and the body consisting of all those who have accepted the work of the atonement. We believe in the need for a local assembly of believers for the purposes of exalting the Savior together, edifying and equipping the saints and evangelizing the lost.
